Blair's Favorite Things
(Like Oprah's favorite things, except they're Blair's)
Hello Blair Bears, and happy Friday to you!
It is my deepest pleasure to address you. I slept 8.5 hours last night (unheard of for me) and I’m in a great mood after a jam packed few days catching up on things post being gone in Indianapolis for 5 days. It is so beautiful in LA today, thank you god!
It’s been a few weeks since I last wrote as a bit of tumult arose when some secret readers with nefarious intentions revealed themselves to be silent super fans of this Substack. And here’s the thing folks, it’s a risk to put yourself out there. This is why most people do not do it. It takes courage and vulnerability to show yourself to the world. Not everyone’s gonna like your work, or you, and that’s just the way the cookie crumbles. But, today I want to extend a hearty hello out there to any of my haters and thank you dearly for your eagle-eyed interest, patrolling, and views of this page.
All that being said, I hope all you Blair Bears had a wonderful week as life is criminally short and could end at any given random second. We must extend as much love to each other as possible and actually just straight up enjoy it while we’re here in this weird ass life. Love ourselves, love each other, do no harm, AND take no shit. Also, thank you so so much to everyone who came out to my 5 shows in Indiana, I truly appreciate anyone who supports me or ever buys a ticket to see me more than you could ever know. It’s so hard to sell tickets!
NOW, on to Blairy’s favorite things. One thing about me, I LOVE to put the fuckin girls on. This is why I think influencers sometimes get a bad rap. I just enjoy sharing everything I love with others, especially stuff I think THEY WILL love! It makes me happy!!!!!! And once I finally learn how to edit a TikTok video, I WILL begin my career as a skincare influencer. I love love love introducing and gifting skincare to my loved ones.
BLAIRY’S FAVORITE THINGS: THE LIST
Ponzu Sauce — Kikkoman Citrus Seasoned Dressing and Sauce. Sure you enjoy it once in every good while at the sushi place on your sashimi but do you know what it’s like to have your own bottle in your home??! You kiddin me?? It instantly elevates any dumpling, meat, salad dressing, and/or rice. You would not believe the mega watt impact on your life that having Ponzu at your disposal any time you damn well please will have.
The movie Project Hail Mary — I went into this film with zero information about what it was about. I didn’t even know Ryan Gosling was in it. All I kept seeing on my timeline was “what a feel good movie” it was and how it left a lasting impact on people. I went with my dear friend Natalie Palamides and we both died at how good it was! Spoiler, it is about space and potentially extraterrestrial life. It’s so well done I think it is one of my top 5 favorite movies of my lifetime.
Lanolips Golden Dry Skin Salve — This ointment is the thickest salve I’ve ever found! It’s made for cracked lips and hands and has manuka honey in it. I love it because it lasts way longer on my lips than my usual omnipresent Aquaphor (that comes off pretty easily). With its thrilling staying power, it’s especially good for keeping your lips moisturized during sleep.
Lanolips Hand Cream — Lanolips again. Wow, I really love this company. I rarely ever like a hand cream (truly almost never) because none of them are heavy duty enough for the big dog, not even close. I do not like a thin or “light weight” formula in any moisturizing product. This one smells like coconut and is majorly moisturizing. They also have it in rose scent which I will be trying when I finish this tube. For a hand creme to impress me, the never hand creme girl, you know it’s legit.
Loreal Lumi Glotion — Okay, I fear a lot of people already know about this one as it’s a best selling product but I just started using it and I love it so much. I use it after I finish my skincare and before I put on my makeup for a beautiful glow under my foundation (skin tint). It’s just a glowy, fresh formula that’s really subtle but adds a nice little pop that I love.
MCoBeauty Miracle Flawless Pressed Power — I try not to buy expensive beauty products any more because I believe a lot of the drugstore brands have caught up in quality but I have been a longtime user of the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Filter Pressed Powder. I love the Charlotte compact but I’ve broken at least three of them in my luggage or by dropping and they are soooo expensive that it devastates me every time. Imagine my delight when I decided to try this MCo powder (which is clearly branded as a very obvious Charlotte dupe) and absolutely loved it! It feels the exact same to me and it’s $9.99 versus $50!!! What a win!
MUNA’s new album, Dancing on the Wall — I’ve been a fan of MUNA for quite a long time now, I just love their very specific sound and their song writing. It’s peak girlhood to me. I find that I like a lot of lesbian bands. This album is so good. Great tunes to kick off summer and scream sing in your car.
Amlactin Intensive Healing 15% AHA lotion — As a dry skin girly, this is the single best product on the market. I am not exaggerating. I’ve tried it all. It’s not exactly cheap at $29.99 but it’s also a fairly large bottle at 14.1 ounces. The 15% lactic acid acts a pretty strong chemical exfoliant on your skin, softening it like nothing you’ve ever experienced. It truly feels prescription grade. It can even sting sometimes. They do have a “daily” version that’s 10% lactic acid if the 15% intensive version is too much for you. There’s also no scent which I really appreciate as an MCAS girl. I don’t want any scents in anything I use any more, there are already enough chemicals being pumped into my body as it is. You will love Amlactin, I’ve turned so many people into faithful users. It will change your life. However, I do have to mention that it does make your skin much more sensitive to the sun, so if you do use it, be sure to put serious sunscreen on any area you put Amlactin on.
The TV show Scandal — Yes, you read that correctly I am recommending the illustrious TV show, Scandal, that aired from 2012-2018. I just re-watched the entire series of 124 episodes. I currently am in that mourning period right now where the thing you love has come to an end. I miss it already. Also, the pilot is one of the most gripping pilots I think I’ve ever seen, immediately hooks you in. I really love the first 6 seasons, the last season kinda goes off the rails though.
Okay, I’ve only written about half my current list of recommendations here but I’ll have to save the rest for another day because I have to go now. I’ve also received requests to do a comprehensive post on skincare so look out for that coming soon.
Thanks for reading I love you!
